Archive of Feelings or Affective Frame: the Cinema of the Immediate Malvinas Post-war

Abstract

Based on some references to the so-called affective turn (affective turn) and the notions of "sentiment archive" and "affective frame", we propose to review two films from the immediate postwar period: Los chicos de la guerra by Bebe Kamín (1984) in which, based on conventional fictional gadgets, produces a schematic cartography -possibly reassuring- about the events that have just ended, and Malvinas: historia de traiciones de Jorge Denti (1984), which, through the usual strategies of the documentary film and ceding part of the textual authority to the witnesses, it problematizes survival, a figure that will ghostly inhabit the post-dictatorship period to present days. We will inquire about these films with the aim of exploring what kind of archives of feelings they constitute and if the idea of "affective frame" is adequate to complement or contrast that of the archive when it comes to attending to the way in which the images operate the interpretation of the event.
